Hair, Makeup & Prosthetic Designer
Donald James Mowat was born and raised in Montreal, Canada to British parents. In a career spanning more than three decades, his work on ratings-busters like ‘Dune’, ‘Dune: part two’, ‘Blade Runner 2049’ and ‘Skyfall’ have cemented his reputation as being one of the world’s top makeup designers and department heads. So far, he’s earned an Academy Award Nomination, three BAFTA nominations, a Primetime Emmy Award, two Saturn Awards, and received a record ten Make-up Artists and Hairstylists Guild Awards nominations. In 2012 Donald was awarded Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, and The Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers in 2018 for his work with BAFTA Los Angeles youth outreach. He has British, Canadian and US citizenship and lives in Los Angeles, but is happy to go where the work takes him.
