Director / 1st Assistant Director
Stephen has a decade of experience in directing, both as a lead director, most recently on McDonald & Dodds for Mammoth Screen/ITV as well as directing second unit on the critically acclaimed series London Kills (BBC/Acorn TV) and Fifteen-Love (World Productions/Amazon UK). He’s been mentored by Peter Hoar, originally as part of the Directors UK Inspire Mentor Scheme, and has worked with the likes of Aidan Turner, Olivia Colman and Jason Watkins. He also directed the wonderful Dermot Crowley in his award-winning short Harold & Mary, which had a very successful run at various BIFA and BAFTA qualifying festivals and has been released through Shorts TV.
Stephen's focus and interests are in crime and socio-political dramas and in intriguing and complex thrillers. Just as importantly, he understands the need to balance an inherent desire for authenticity and commitment to a narrative with the ongoing demands of production and scheduling.
He’s a Blackpool lad at heart, but lives in London and will go wherever the work takes him.
